Youth ChalleNGe

The National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program is a community-based program that leads, trains and mentors 16- 18-year olds high school dropouts or students on the path to dropping out, so that they may become productive citizens in America’s future. Cadets come from all ethnicities, backgrounds and family dynamics. This program has been recognized as one of the nation’s most effective and cost-efficient programs for targeting youth who are at the greatest risk for substance abuse, teen pregnancy, delinquency, and criminal activity. The Youth ChalleNGE program is highly structured, military styled, non-traditional educational environment that integrates training, mentoring, tough love, and diverse educational and extracurricular activities. Connecting Generations

Programs grounded in research and evidence. Our mentoring and character-building programs are based on a large body of research that shows: 1) students experiencing adversity need additional supports in school, 2) noncognitive skills such as self-control and responsible decision-making are necessary for academic achievement, 3) students experiencing adversity benefit from programs that focus on the development of social-emotional skills.

Lil Mamaz Etiquette Academy

Lil Mamaz is a program designed to increase confidence, teach the foundations of etiquette, develop gifts and talents and cultivate positive relationships while fostering a sense of pride and self-love in young women of color. Etiquette in many urban communities has become a lost art. Basic greetings, table manners and public speaking have been pushed aside as social media has allowed false personas to emerge with no substance to back it. Dezzie has taken on a nostalgic venture of breathing life into her community by introducing Lil Mamaz Etiquette Academy. Launching in 2022, Lil Mamaz will serve young ladies ages 8-17 years of age with a focus of etiquette 101.

Upward Bound Math & Science Center

Delaware Tech’s Upward Bound Math & Science Center is a pre-college TRIO program designed to motivate and prepare students in the program for the successful pursuit of a college education that leads to careers in the field of math and science. Upward Bound Math & Science Center provides students with academic support services to assist them in the successful completion of high school, engage and inspire students to explore the fields of math, science, engineering and technology, and ultimately graduate from a college or university.

Women’s Health

A Door of Hope

A Door of Hope has been serving New Castle County, Delaware since 1981. They assist women who are making decisions regarding their pregnancies. Their offerings of assistance include, free limited, obstetrical ultrasound, free pregnancy tests, accurate information about pregnancy options and a free material support program. A Door of Hope’s material support program, called The Hope Program, offers over 300 parenting classes covering topics such as prenatal care, birth, infant care, toddler care, relationships, finances, abuse and addiction. Each class is approximately 20 minutes long and can be done virtually or in-office. After completion of each class, participants review what they learned with a peer-counselor and receive “points” that can be redeemed for material items such as diapers, wipes, strollers, car seats and baby clothes. Beautiful Gate Outreach Center

The Beautiful Gate Outreach Center began its commitment to improving the quality of life of those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in 2000. The Center is known nationally for its ability to create effective programs that meet the needs of the local community with a disproportionately higher rate of HIV infection. Their mission is to eliminate the spread of HIV/AIDS and assist in caring for all people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in
Delaware by providing information, prevention strategies, and outreach assistance that educates, empowers, and contributes to the eradication of this disease.
